A most generous gift of music, from one of the UK’s best known and loved composers.

Photograph of John Rutter, conducting music

The composer of the lovely and uplifting musical work ‘The Gift of Life’, (as sung by the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir last June in Wakefield Cathedral) is coming to Wakefield to give a gift of music to 400 singers from across the whole of Yorkshire.

John Rutter, composer; conductor; honoured by the Queen with a C.B.E. for services to music; composer of music for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding – and overall amazing person – will be leading a day of song on Saturday 28th October. The event, proudly hosted in Wakefield by the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir will bring together voices from all over Yorkshire – and will be a day to remember.

The works to be sung are as yet a secret – but suffice it to say that it will be a rich collection of, variously, great; beautiful; lyrical and memorable sings – and hopefully will include a good helping of Rutter’s own works!

His generosity in giving his time to engage, enthuse and develop 400 singers is humbling – a gift of song from the composer of The Gift of Life.

We are all looking forward to the day with great enthusiasm and anticipation…………….and watch this space to find out how it went!
