Musical Director
Recruitment

The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir is seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and inspirational Musical Director from September 2023, who will build on the past successes of the choir and develop the next stage of its growth.

The YPC was founded in 1953 and in its 70 years has had only four Musical Directors. It has developed from a small chamber choir through to the large premier ensemble it is now. The vast majority of that growth and development has taken place under the Musical Direction of Dr Andrew Padmore, who is retiring after 34 years in that role to leave this vacancy.

The YPC is an auditioned SATB choir of 100 members. It performs four concerts each year within a season extending between September and the end of June. The main performing venue is Wakefield Cathedral.

The YPC is renowned for the breadth of its repertoire which ranges from the great choral classics to contemporary and newly commissioned works and for the consistently high standard of its performances. Wherever appropriate, concerts are performed with a professional orchestra or ensemble and soloists.

Closing date for applications: 31st January 2023
