A surprise Royal performance by the YPC
Members of the Yorkshire Philharmonic, performing as the Yorkshire Chamber Choir, were delighted to be invited to sing at the wedding of Harry Aubrey - Fletcher and Louise Stourton at Aldborough, North Yorkshire on Saturday 9 January 2011.
The choir had no knowledge beforehand that the guest list included Prince William, who was an usher, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice. The groom is one of Prince William's oldest friends having been at prep school and Eton together. He is the youngest son of Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, 8th Baronet and Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire. The bride is the eldest daughter of Edward, the 24th Baron Stourton, 28th Baron Segrave, 27th Baron Mowbray.
The choir assisted the congregational singing and sang 'The Lord Bless you and keep you (J Rutter), Ave Maria (F Schubert) and My True Love hath my heart (C. Gounod) during the signing of the register, the latter being a specific request of the bride and groom, that it be sung to them, as they stood amongst the choir.
A pleasant day was had by all and a number of members returned to rehearsals the following
week still buzzing with excitement from the experience.
