A 'Cracker' of a Christmas Concert
A sell-out audience enjoyed a wonderful start to the Christmas Festivities at the YPC's concert of carols and Christmas Music in Wakefield Cathedral. From the traditional opening of O come, O come, Emmanuel to Merry Christmas, Cha-Cha-Cha! the Choir shone brightly!
The 'lucky' ticket holders were entertained with a programme which featured the Richmond House School Choir under the leadership of Victoria Lloyd. The children charmed the audience with their musicality and smiles and thoroughly deserved the long and loud applause which followed their two spots.
Conductor Andrew Padmore was in sparkling form and said afterwards, "the choir sounded at its very best," and Andrew added to the enjoyment by sprinkling some Christmas cracker jokes to his compering! The Brass Quintet, a regular feature for this concert, was in excellent form and the Cathedral organ sparkled too with sterling efforts from Tom Moore and Simon Earle.
At the end there was enthusiastic acclaim for another top quality Christmas Concert.
We hope to see you at our next concert, The St John Passion, on 29th March 2015.
