An exhilarating return to live performance by the YPC

Concert report: "Back with a Bang - A concert of choral crackers" (6th November 2021, Wakefield Cathedral)

What a thrill to return to two live performances with huge, receptive audiences of all ages who were equally desperate to receive our music as we were to perform it.

The stirring opening of Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’ was one of those breathtaking moments that was so emotional as it reminded both choir and audience what they had been missing. Parry’s ‘I was glad’ had the audience bolt upright in their seats as the exciting opening bars surely sent a tingle down every spine with the rich harmonies and inimitable warm tone of YPC. In contrast when the concert closed with Rutter’s ‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’ the beauty and calm of both the music and the words touched every heart and left many wiping away the tears.

A musical feast and an exhilarating return of Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir with huge thanks to Andrew Padmore and Tom Moore.

Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir will be back in Wakefield Cathedral next month for the annual Christmas concert on Saturday 18th December at 7pm. Tickets available from Eventbrite directly or through the YPC box office.
